Salem Prep students tend to show extraordinary resilience and perseverance. All students at Salem Prep receive special education services through an IEP. Most Salem Prep students qualify for special education under the emotional disability category. Psychological disorders that are common at the Salem Prep include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Depression, Anxiety/Panic, Autism Spectrum; consequently, many display school avoidance behavior. Our students have often struggled in more typical settings and have missed significant amounts of instruction and credits. Many students have experienced significant trauma in their lives (such as loss of a parent, abuse and/or neglect), which has impacted their ability to access their education.
